The Cabbage Patch has always had close links to the local community. We had the honour of winning
a local business award in 2004 for Contribution to the Community. Frank was the Govenor of Clarendon

School for Moderate Special Needs for many years, and he has maintained a close relationship with the
school. It is the pub's main charity. Several fund raising events are held throughout the year to support
the school, the biggest being the
Cabbage Patch 10 annual road race.
The race is held every year in October. It was recently voted among the top 15 best runs in the country.
It is organised by the Stragglers running club and the Cabbage Patch, and attracts up to 1600 runners each year.
2006 will hold the 25th annual race. The money raised from the run is donated to the Clarendon School. We also
hold a Boxing Day 4 mile fun run to help burn off all that Christmas food.
The pub also has close ties with our neighbours, Howe Lodge, a sheltered housing estate. Every year the
occupants of Howe Lodge join Frank for a day trip to the seaside, stopping along the way in well
known pub for lunch.
In summer the Cabbage Patch is proud to hold its annual garden party. It is a very popular day for local
residents of Twickenham and is part of the Twickenham Festival week. It is a day for given a little
back to the supporters and friends of the pub. Many activities are put on to entertain the whole
family, with T-shirt painting competition, bouncy castle and face painting for the children. For the adults
we have a BBQ, a beer festival with 4 guest ales and Elvis! The Howe Lodge residents always join us for a
meal too.
